TWINCAT

Twin Cat’s revolutionary Thermo Resin is like a fibreglass boat in terms of stiffness and weight but like a “poly-boat” in terms of the material robustness. The Twin Cat can be bashed with a sledge hammer without worry - watch the video! But the Twin Cat is also as light as our high-tech Taipan - that’s the revelation! On top of that, Thermo Resin is an ECO-friendly process material and fully recycle-able.

Not since the days of the Hobie 14 has there been a platform that can introduce a whole new genre of sailors to the sport - and that’s the thing which will keep our sport growing.

Although the Twincat is pitched at the entry-level sailor it is much better to think of it as "fuss-free" sailing! It takes about 6 minutes to rig and sails like a little performance boat. The Twincat Sport comes with a spinnaker and even the most novice sailor will enjoy the easy-up-down spinnaker system.

The Twincat sails better than she has the right too. Before we tried it we were worried that it would be like the average boardless cat i.e. heavy on the helm hard to tack and, slow!

The Twincat is far from that. She's definitely not slow, especially in a breeze where she really comes alive! She is easy to tack and the feel on the helm while not in the F16 league, is by no means 'heavy'.

Anyone can mangae the Twincat. We even had two 10 year old 40kg wonders upright the boat from a capsized position!

The THERMO resin hulls are incredibly air tight, more so than any other cat we've ever had. After a whole days sailing when you release the drain plug you'll hear a rush of air coming out! Now that's a first! The hulls have positive buoyancy, thanks to large amounts of foam in the hull. We tested this aspect by sailing the Twincat for 2 hours without the drain plugs in - on purpose naturally! With the hull more than half submerged we were still able to sail against a strong out-going tide and back to the Club. After that experience, we were never afraid to let anyone try the Twincat. Weeks later, our Sailing Commodore did the same trick...see what I mean...anyone can sail it in great safety!

We like testing the things we promote and so we took the first Twincat in Asia out for a thrashing in our Northeast Monsoon, chop and all. This was the shorter "club" rig and even in 18-20 knots we couldn't foul up a tack! But the next best surprise was trying to stick the nose into the water - with little sccess. Even when we managed to push the nose underwater she just popped up again and we were off again!

Try as we did we couldn't flip it or even pitchpole it!

In just a few hours, these bits will become an incredible little cat!

Lay all the pieces out and note, the longer bolts are for the rear beam.
Loosely bolt the rear .beam into place first. Then the front beam.

Leave it loose until you have everything in place, especially the beam end caps!
Slide the trampoline in, connect all the wires, hang the rudders...and you're set.
